Welcome to "The Project"
I am just up the road in Santa Barbara, hope we can learn from each other. I recently moved my consulting business from South Florida after a 6 year Hiatus from the Silicon Valley where I was a Sales Engineer and Middle ware person where I worked for an International Company.

Hello Kevin and thank you for the invitation. As a recently displaced IT professional in Silicon Valley, all social networking opportunities can only benefit the search for the right position that will fulfill the career and lifestyle ambitions.

Motivation = respect for the workers and entire team, trust, and empowerment to accomplish the task. Support can be minimal, but must be felt. All humans need to feel appreciated, this is true of wives, children, as well as your colleagues.

We work for intellectual satisfaction and financial reward, unless we are wealthy, so adequate compensation is important. Work/life balance is essential for longterm success, otherwise burn-out sets in. Lattes, dry cleaners, dog walkers, and nap-rooms are no substitute for home and TLC.

The project actually has little relevance if the above factors are not there. Given, a little care, IT workers will do truly incredible things.
