Thanks for the replies, Kevin and Capecoder. Interestingly you both touch on one similar topic: the relationship of the leader to the team and the organization. We often hear that being a manager is not being everybody's friend - and in fact in hurt…

I've been a member of some very good teams, not so good teams, as well as led some good teams. Like Kevin, I won't site any specific examples. However, I will say that for me and in my professional experience, the difference between a "bad" team, a…

I've worked for some pretty ineffective team leaders. The problems stemmed from not keeping their distance from their own managers and their reports. Too much socializing on either side of the corporate ladder removes objectivity, thus leading to fa…

Good topic Norm, I'm not going to cite any specific examples since I believe they can be found in any successful company where IT people actually WANT to work. But my contention is that tech people are inherently creative and progressive minded ind…

Tell Tech Pro Motivation Project Members something about yourself:
I spent years managing tech teams. From time to time I would be part of a team where communication flowed, creativity was the rule, success felt inevitable. Many had once been on a team like that, and then spent years trying to get back into one. I have been studying what made such teams and now am dedicated to help team leaders construct such teams at will.
